Monaco and PSG
Mbappé broke through at Monaco, scoring 15 Ligue 1 goals and six in the Champions League in 2016-17 as Monaco won the French title and reached the Champions League semi-finals. He moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 and became the club’s all-time leading scorer, passing 250 goals in March 2024. In Paris he won a string of Ligue 1 titles and French Cups and was the league’s top scorer for several seasons in a row, but the Champions League eluded him.
Real Madrid
Mbappé joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2024. In 2025-26 he scored 58 goals and made 13 assists in 60 games for club and country, including 25 LaLiga goals and 15 in the Champions League, finishing as top scorer in both competitions. Real Madrid did not win a major trophy, which counted against him in the Ballon d’Or vote. Under José Mourinho this season, he has continued to score in the biggest games, including both goals in the 2-1 Clásico win on 25 October.
France and the World Cup
Mbappé won the World Cup with France in 2018 at the age of 19, scoring in the final, something only Pelé had done as a teenager. At the 2026 World Cup in North America he scored ten goals, the most of any player at the tournament, and his goal in the third-place play-off against England on 18 July made him the competition’s all-time top scorer with 22 goals, one more than Lionel Messi. England won that game 6-4. He has 67 goals in 107 games for France.

How does Mbappé play?
Mbappé’s greatest weapon is acceleration. He attacks space behind defences better than almost anyone, and a single ball over the top or into the channel is often enough. He finishes with both feet and has become increasingly effective as a central striker. His Clásico double showed both sides: an alert finish from a ricochet, and a composed winner from a cut-back.
